Facilitator Application Information for DeCal Courses

 

Applications for teaching DeCal courses in Fall semesters are to be submitted to the Chair of the Department no later than May 1, of the preceding spring semester.

Applications for teaching DeCal courses in spring semesters are to be submitted to the Chair of the Department no later than November 1, of the preceding fall semester.

The signature of the faculty sponsor should be obtained before submission of the forms to the Chair. After review of the applications applicants will be notified of the decision.

Conditions for teaching DeCal courses in the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies:

1. DeCal instruction will only be sponsored for declared majors in the Department of South and Southeast Asian Studies. Course cannot be taught by unaffiliated students.

2.DeCal courses taught in our department are expected to have a minimum of 50% area emphasis and content in the course syllabus.

3. In order to ensure diversity of topics, no course will be taught more than twice.

4. In order to offer a teaching opportunity to as many students as possible, instructors will be limited to teaching two semesters of courses offered through the Department.
