Professor Munis Faruqui wins the 2014 Distinguished Teaching Award

We are delighted to announce that SSEAS professor Munis Faruqui is a winner of the 2014 U.C. Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award. From Chancellor Dirks’ letter:

“Every year, the announcement of the new Distinguished Teachers serves to remind us all that excellent teaching runs both deep and broad at Berkeley.  We take great pride in the fact that we excel in both teaching and research.
“Professors Chiang, Faruqui, and Hassner will be honored at a public ceremony on Wednesday, April 23rd at 5pm in the Zellerbach Playhouse, with a reception to follow in the Toll Room of the Alumni House.
“I encourage the entire campus community to join us at the ceremony to celebrate not only these individuals, but also the high caliber of teaching across the Berkeley campus.”

The SSEAS community congratulates Munis on this most prestigious award! Our faculty is thoroughly garlanded with Distinguished Teaching Awardees—Munis joins Sally Goldman (class of 2012), Usha Jain (class of 2002), and Bob Goldman (class of 1974). Munis exemplifies our departmental commitment to teaching excellence as well as scholarship of the highest order.
